It is much easier now.

90 minutes of scree run bring us down from Stella Point to Barafo Camp.

On the ridge of lava the tents of Barafo Camp can be spotted.

Rebmann glacier glows at the crater rim.

The first part of the very long descend is done. View to Barafo Camp.

Hours later, and another 1600 meters further down.

Mweka Camp is at 3000 meter in the rain forest. After heavy afternoon rain we have to get used to the deep and clammy clay ground.

Breakfast table is ready after a recreative night. Our dining room is already packed. Today everybody wants to leave early.

The full infrastructure can be seen on the photo: The loo and the rescue facilities.

Anyway, there were two kinds of beer availabe at the campsite.

24 hours ago we were standing up there, 3000 meters higher than now.

Our 28 porters are waiting for the tip to be distributed. They get 15 US$ per person.

They seemed to be content with it. They were in a good mood along the whole trip.

The very last stage crossing the rain forest. Another 1200 height meters to descend. The knees tell us it should be close to the finish now.

Left and right to the well maintained path the green is impenetrable.

At the finish: Back to bureaucracy. Everybody gets their certificate proving that they reached the top.
